Pulverized coal cyclones are designed for air-and-coal mixture purification in coal pulverization systems in manufacturing hopper. Cyclones are included in coal pulverization equipment of pulverization systems with manufacturing hopper and open pulverization systems of boilers burning solid fuel in pulverized condition. The principle of pulverized coal cyclones operation is based on centrifugal effect. Air-and-coal mixture progressive motion transforms into rotational motion with downward direction of pulverized coal flow at cyclone inlet.

Under inertia force, fractions move to the cyclone outer wall and then enter the pulverized coal hopper. Purified gases are removed from the cyclone through the exhaust pipe and lateral pipeline. Cyclones may be divisible into cyclones of right and left rotation according to the rotating direction of pulverized coal-gas flow. In case of right execution the pulverized coal-air flow enters in clockwise direction, and in case of counter-clockwise execution — in counter-clockwise direction (if facing the branch pipe side).

Cyclone of TsP2 type consists of housing, inlet and outlet branch pipes, exhaust pipe and hopper. Safety valves are provided on the spiral surface and exhaust chamber cover of the cyclone.
