TYAZHMASH won tender on Irkutsk HPP technical upgrading

On the 11th of September, 2017 JSC Irkutskenergo summarized the results of tender on designing, manufacturing, and installation of turbines for technical upgrading of the facility Hydraulic Units Nos. 1, 2, 7, 8 of Irkutsk HPP.

JSC TYAZHMASH was recognized as a winner of the tender. The contract price is 1 826 000 000 roubles (excluding VAT). Development of design and engineering documents, equipment production and supply, supervision installation, and adjustment supervision will be finished by July 2023.

The main objectives of the project are to increase the hydraulic units installed capacity and efficiency and to increase operational reliability, safety, and trouble-free operation of the main hydropower equipment of HPP by means of worn-out equipment replacement.

At the tender stage, JSC TYAZHMASH considered several options of the turbine profiles, and then the most suitable one was selected. JSC TYAZHMASH will replace the installed Kaplan turbines with propeller ones with runner diameter of 7.2 m.

JSC Irkutskenergo was founded in 1992. It is a part of EuroSibEnergo — the largest independent power company in Russia that owns such hydroelectric power plants as Irkutsk HPP, Bratsk HPP, and Ust-Ilimsk HPP.

Irkutsk HPP is the first large hydroelectric power plant in Eastern Siberia. In October 1959 Irkutsk HPP was put into operation. Eight hydraulic units with Kaplan turbines were installed in HPP building.
