The first launch took place at the spaceport Vostochny using equipment produced by JSC TYAZHMASH

On the 28th of April at 05.01 by Moscow time, the first launch of Soyuz 2.1а launch vehicle took place at the new spaceport Vostochny in Amur region where land-based equipment of space-launching complexes produced by TYAZHMASH had been installed. The mission objective was an orbital injection of Lomonosov, Aist-2D, and SamSat-218 space modules.

The President of the Russian Federation V. V. Putin attended the spaceport at the moment of launch vehicle takeoff. Vice-premier Dmitry Rogozin, Head of Roscosmos Igor Komarov, and First Deputy Head of Roscosmos Aleksandr Ivanov, Head of Spetsstroy Aleksandr Volosov visited the spaceport as well. The Delegation of JSC TYAZHMASH headed by Director General A. F. Trifonov took pride of place in the event.

The launch vehicle took off in normal mode approving high availability of all processing facilities, particularly launching system, maintenance module, erector, and set of protective devices produced by JSC TYAZHMASH. The next stage of JSC TYAZHMASH work for Vostochny is designing of umbilical tower for the second launching platform for heavy launch vehicle Angara.
